Ward Luau

A year ago we began attending our new ward the week of the Luau. It's hard to believe that it has already been a year, but on the same token, it's incomprehensible that we should already feel like we have such a ward family. I feel extremely close to so many people in our ward and am so grateful to be in it. Initially we thought we were in another and were discouraged when we found that we would be starting a 3rd ward in a matter of months. Brian consoled me by saying the Lord knew where we needed to be. He was right.
The men roasted an entire pig for this particular shin-dig. They are incorrigible when it comes to things of this nature. The women tried to be more practical, but the men's' eyes gleamed when they spoke of roasting a whole pig.
Kolton chilled on a blanket as he is prone to do, and Xiana disappeared for fun, as she is prone to do.
She participated in the 3 legged race and did surprisingly well with the assistance of a coach who counted 1, 2, 1, 2 for the little ones. It was a clever way to get them in sync.
This young woman is so very thoughtful.
Then the children took to rolling down the hill. Oh what fun. I can still vividly remember so many fun ward activities ending with rolling down the hill. I always got a rash from the grass, but that is a small price to pay for the pleasure of spinning until you are sick!
