Run or Dye

I signed up for Run or Dye which is a 5k where they throw dye on you throughout.  I didn't really know what to expect, but it was a blast!  I ran for more of it than I thought I could given how out of shape I am (when I signed up I had big ambitions of being incredibly in shape and running the whole time, perhaps next year).  It is really remarkable that this area can support two major races the same day (that was also the Tahoe Odyssey).  They said 7000 people participated in the Run or Dy and I don't know how many in the other.  This is something I'll surely do again... only this time I might drag my family with me!

Crystal Park

We went, again, to Crystal Park for a church activity where we played in the water, went for a nature walk, and visited with friends.  It was a great success!  We spotted a deer that hung around for quite a while. Also, the youth were wonderful to keep Kolton entertained for hours while Brian and I ate kabobs and kicked back.  This park is truly beautiful and so very close.  I feel blessed to live where we do.  There is no shortage of wonderful activities surrounding us!

Baseball

Kolton picked out a baseball pitcher with his money from grandma and grandpa.  He loves it.  It was hysterical because Brian was teasing both Kolton and Xiana about their inability to hit the ball. He said, "let me show these kids how it's done." and proceeded to miss approximately 12 pitches.  Then, he got on his knees and hit all of them.  Problem solved!

  • I love two-year-old's minds and their thought process.  Most of all, I love when they mimic expressions that sound so much cuter from the mouth of a toddler... and sometimes make me rethink my own expressions.  Some of my current favorites from both aspects are: "dang it all!" "howy cwap" (can you guess which side that falls on?) "I got it!" "self!" "Ali here, great!" "moy caiy" (my car) singing and playing the piano, "I am a child of Dog!"
  • While walking one day, we could hear the birds chirping and Kolton said, "mommy, hear birds talking!"
  • One evening when he noticed the moon he told me, "eye ball up theya" I laughed and told him it was the moon.  He said, "oh, pwetty moon fwying" (flying).
  • One of my favorite prayers lately, "dear heavy fadder, fanks for baseballs, baseball bats, boom booms (guns), towels, cayas (cars), twucks, and boom booms. Cwist amen"
  • Brian regularly teases the kids about cutting off their appendages when they get owies.  Kolton had a cut on his hand and told me, "Kolton owie hand, call daddy cut it off."

  • And my most favorite Xiana saying lately, "mom, did you watch Hercules when you were a little girl? Oh wait, I forgot, TV didn't exist when you were little."
