Ice Skating

Xiana was desperate to try out ice skating this year.  I planned on taking her and then realized that was a pretty insane idea at 6 months pregnant.  Thankfully, I have wonderful friends and sister in law who took care of keeping her vertical for the night.  She was fairly petrified after all her begging and cajoling.  She cried the first time around and then started to get more comfortable.  Then, when we left, she started bawling again because her feet hurt so badly.  I explained that was what it took to ice skate. I'm glad we went.  All in all, though, I don't think she'll be begging to go again any time soon.  We had lots of our ward family there and some kind members brought hot chocolate for everyone. That was my favorite part :)

Happy New Year!

Happy New year! highly belated I know.  After all, it's only March:) We had a fun New Year's Day. We went to the hills with some friends and went shooting all morning.  Then, we came home for some lunch and followed the day with an evening of festivities.  Mom, Garrett, Kelli, and Ali came over and we had snacks, played games, and watched movies.  Mom spent the night so she didn't have to drive home late at night. It turns out it's a good thing she did, since the two of us were the only ones to make it to the new year.  We let the kids celebrate at 10, telling them it was midnight.  They toasted again and again repeating, "happy new year!" It was darling.  We also let them bang pots and pans which was pretty serious business.  All in all, it was a good day. I know that in all my life, I've never been so relieved to let go of a year and move on to the next.  I know that life is beautiful, but I also know that 2013 was the hardest year of my life.  So, welcome 2014!!
