Girls Just Wanna Have Fu-un!

Kate and I went on a much anticipated trip to Northern CA... no kids, no hubbies... just us!!!! It was amazing! Nicholas kindly put us up.  We spent one day at the ocean, eating pastries while the waves crashed... for real HEAVEN! Then, we spent a full day at our united love, Great America! Although the rides are older than some of the more modern amusement parks, there were no lines! We got to ride every single coaster a minimum of 6 and maximum of 12 times!! We rode our favorite 6 times without even getting out of the train! We love roller coasters equally, so we never had to wait for the other to catch up... we just went for it all day.  We bought an eat-like-a-boss pass so we also got carnival food every 90 minutes. LOL.... there aren't many who could hang with that kind of a day. We are truly kindred spirits.  One day we went shopping and out to eat.  It was relaxing, spastic, rejuvenating, and draining all at the same time. In short, it was AWESOME!

Sunday

Oh these kids.  They clean up nice.  Some Sundays it's all I can do to keep from gobbling them up!

Memorial Day

Another Memorial Day has come and gone since our sweet dad left this earth. It's hard to imagine at times. And yet, I can see that time truly does heal.  For the year after his death, it was hard for me not to feel robbed.  Every interaction I had or event in my life I felt indignant that he wasn't there... that he was taken from me before said event.  Yet, just the other day I found myself thinking in terms of, back-when-dad-was-still-supposed-to-be-here.  I'm not sure when my thinking shifted, but there is a definite change in my feelings of where he is supposed to be. But that doesn't change how much I miss him.

For the day, we went with the Andelins and Mark and his kids on a hike and picnic.  As we hiked, there was torrential downpour and we all got soaked! We made a make-shift lean-to out of the wood left where we parked and managed to eat our picnic nevertheless. It was a lot of fun!  Then we collected tons of copper rocks and went home to have a BBQ with family and the Hofmanns.   It was a fun-filled day!
