80's Murder Mystery Party

For Nixie's big 3-0 she wanted to have an 80's murder mystery party. Who better to host than the amazing party planner Morre?! It was over the top... a complete blast... and without exception the most decorated party I have ever attended. I actually helped with the set up. Morre must have been collecting stuff for a long time. She had records galore, tapes that she spray painted neon colors, slap bracelets, a giant rubix cube, pop rocks, glow sticks, movies, and the works.
She also made a big pacman board for a picture backdrop.
Also, everyone got decked out in costumes! We all had variations of the names of prominent people from the 80's. From Left to right is Paula Abule, Lindy Lauper, Vampira, Debbie Gribson, and Toni Martinelli.
And here is the giant rubix cube Morre prepped and I assemble. It was really cool.
Pee Wee Herman was dead on spitting image. He came with birthday girl aka Debbie Gribson aka Nixie. It was hilarious because the premise was that it was her album release party.
This was Jessica bunny and Alligator Dundee.
The equivalent of a high school preppy girl, and, obviously, Osborne.
Pee Wee and Debbie prom style.
Birthday girl and host...
Morre's husband was Pork (mork and mindy)...
Spunky Brewster and Karate child.
Madonna and teenage wolf.
For round two one of the events there was a dance competition. Everybody had five minutes to choreograph their routine.... tears streaming down peoples' faces were not uncommon... it was priceless.
We got to see the train...
Vogue...
And just enjoy each other's company. The way the party worked each person got a clue and then you had to mingle. There were specific things you had to say to specific people and then other, more broad clues that you picked and chose with whom you spread them. It was pretty comical to be a pregnant Elvira...
And Aligator dundee ended up being the one that was offed. He was conspiring to ruin Lindy Lauper's career by divulging the fact that she ate meat despite being a very public animal rights activist.
There were other little side games that coincided with each round also.
All in all, I would say it was a great success. Everybody had a blast.
I will admit that this was a big surprise to find that for Nixie's 30th this is how we would spend the evening. I'm quite sure there wasn't a single person there that would have guessed this is where we would be now. It was a lot of fun. Brian took Xiana to Battle Mountain for the weekend where she got to attend her cousin's princess party. They had a blast too. It was a bit odd, and lonely, to be home without anyone for the weekend. It was the first time since Xiana was born I spent a night alone. Fortunately, I had a lot of papers to grade!

  2. This seems like a very interesting theme party. I can actually do something like this on my husband’s birthday. It will definitely be a lot of fun. I have also shortlisted some of the Venues in NYC for his birthday celebration. Now, I will look for the one which goes with this theme as well.
