Lady Bug

Little Miss Xiana was a lady bug for her first dance recital for her new ballet class. I was BLOWN away! I couldn't believe the amount of technique, memorization, and talent these little girls displayed.  I've been very fortunate that Natalie has driven every week for dance since I work Tuesday nights. As a result, it was all a surprise for me. I had not idea Xiana was learning so much in such a short amount of time. This dance company is money well spent! And their costumes were pretty darling too!!

Splish Splash

Splish Splash I was taking a bath... long about a Saturday, Monday, Tuesday...... And I love it!!! Like her siblings, this little girl is loving the splash pad.  I know a lot of people who tell me their kids hate it here.... I can't even imagine. Xiana requires friends at the pad, Kolton disappears for hours with or without friends, and Argenta has almost as much fun wiht the sunscreen as the giant sprinklers.

Tahoe take 2

Kolton was my buoy-buddy this year. He went out to them with me about ten times as often as Xiana. She was distracted by her friends, huddling in whispered circles, laying on the hot sand.  I already feel my influence lessening. I already see my grip loosening.  So now, Kolton stays with me, and checks in more regularly, and can be persuaded to go out to the sand bar, even if his friends aren't. It won't be long before Argenta is the one willing to play with her mama. Hopefully, when the pull of her friends is too great to withstand, Xiana will be back at my side, willingly going on our adventures to the middle of the lake. If not... well, then I guess my trips to Tahoe will belong to me alone.... but I don't foresee that in my future. I've worked hard to implant significant love for this sacred place in my children. I've held them on my shoulder for countless naps while the waves splashed their toes. I've lulled them all to sleep in rafts, filled their bellies while adjusting to the frigid water, and made countless sandcastles for the crawdads they caught.  And the investment has been half the fun.

First and Last

Xiana's first day of school.... and her last day of 1st grade. It's hard to believe how fast time flies around us.  She looks virtually the same... and then a few short months later, she's completely transformed with a haircut and five missing teeth. She's my helper, my little angel.  I'm so proud of her, but I wish I could freeze time forever and never lose this little girl who will sit on my lap no matter who's watching.  We had a last day of school movie day at our house.  And then.... summer festivities continued! (I'd say began, but now that they don't get out until the end of June, summer was in full progress by the end!)
