Las Vegas

Brian's grandfather's funeral was in Vegas, so we took a road trip. I encouraged Brian to attend without us, but he felt we should all be there. I'm glad he insisted as it was a lovely service plus wonderful to connect with so much of Brian's family.  We stayed with Jeff and Jenn who were incredibly generous to open their house up to so many of us.  Brian's dad spoke at the funeral and told funny and powerful stories about his dad.  Each of his siblings who spoke talked often of their father's spirituality and light heartedness. It was such a tribute to a life well spent. Brian's grandmother who suffers from dementia, sat on the stand with his dad.  Though she can scarcely remember minutes earlier, when the grandchildren got up to sing a primary medley, she sang along every word. It was such a sweet thing to witness. The following luncheon was attended by only direct descendants and boasted a powerful 150 people.  It was remarkable to look around and recognize that this entire gym was filled with the offspring of two people.  It gave me a tiny glimpse into our eternal families.  We went to dinners and played games and overall enjoyed one another's company for our quick trip out there.  We also spent a whole day at Wet n Wild where we had a fabulous time. Truly family is the most important thing.
