Our good friends the Hofmanns and my brother Garrett all had tags in the same area, so we decided to make it a family affair. We borrowed the Tolman's trailer so the baby could stay warm. Then we put the women and children inside while the men tent camped. We had a fabulous time! We went exploring, walking, ate tons of delicious food, and the kids explored to their hearts' delight. Both tags were successfully filled, and we still had time to visit Brian's family at the end of the trip. The days were perfectly pleasant and, though it got cold at night, the weather was manageable. It gave me great compassion for the pioneers. How hard that must have been to sleep on hard surfaces, in the cold, with babies. I can't imagine what it felt like to worry for your children in that way. We had luxurious beds with sleeping bags and pillows and still, I worried about the littlest among us. We are so very blessed! And we had such a great time! This is a tradition I could get behind, particularly as our babies get bigger.
