Days before this little baby was scheduled to arrive, Xiana earned the student of the month award. We got a call the night before, so Brian took off from work and we all went together to watch her receive it. As soon as she saw us walking up she freaked, "I'm student of the month! I'm student of the month? I'm student of the month!" She was ecstatic, and her teacher loved it. She said it was one of those memorable moments in teaching that she would never forget: the look of sheer joy on Xiana's face. She also said that Xiana was so smart because a lot of times, the kids don't put it together that they're earning the award if their family is there. Xiana has been telling me for a while now that "it's a dead giveaway who's getting student of the month because their family is there." She is a smart cookie, and we are very proud of her!
