And of course, what would a trip to California look like without an ocean visit? There is nothing in all of motherhood quite like introducing your babies to the ocean. It is magical by very definition. I'll happily overlook the pounds of sand in their diapers for the look of inquisitive joy as they take their first taste of the tiny granules as the slip between their fingers. My bigger kids have a healthy fear of the crashing waves which is helpful to me in keeping them within reach while they wave jump, dig, and search for tiny sea creatures and shells. The temperature is irrelevant because, much like their mommy, when they are at the ocean, all they can feel are the tender hugs of sun rays and salty waves.
