It's been a while...

We haven't taken a trip to Battle Mountain in quite some time.  It was really nice to head out and escape for the weekend.  I was quickly reminded how nice it was to let go of home and work and cleaning and head for the hills. We attempted to get some shooting practice in because we are the lucky recipients of FIVE tags this year.... but to no avail.  Kolton was pretty positive that every single shell (roughly 3 million strong) was there for his eating pleasure.  Ekco was no match for his sneaky and fast movements.  It probably didn't help that I brought along chocolate rocks.... that's not confusing at all.

Grandma kindly took the kids for a few little strolls.  All in all we discovered that if we want shooting practice... we need a baby sitter.

Xiana attached herself to grandma Andersen....
And Ekco took on the motherly role like a champ.... a very annoyed champ that is.
There was a very full moon while we were there and Ekco pointed out all kinds of creative and artistic shots.  I told her she had a poetic mind.  She scoffed at that comment, but the next day she was writing poetry.  It's amazing what a little encouragement can do for natural talent.
I can't believe how much this tree has grown over the years.  When Brian and I first started dating, our "family pics" were much larger than this little tree... our family is growing and yet, we've been taken by the background.  I'm always happy to get an updated family shot in front of this tree.  It reminds me of so many things, but mostly, no matter how much grumbling I hear, it makes me feel safe.

We have absolutely positively entered the hallway months with this little tyke.  He's not quite old enough to get that hanging in the hallway isn't fun, and he's not quite young enough to be contained.  We make it to sacrament, and then I let the young women entertain him the third hour (probably robbing them of their edification), but the second hour we don't even attempt.  We let him run around outside while we were in BM.  He sure looked handsome doing it...

He takes after his handsome daddy....

Boy, nothing tugs at the old heart strings quite like two loves in suits... walking tough and being strong.

Strong and loving that is... We went for a little drive where we had our own spiritual edification.  For the record I think our conversation counted as Sunday school.  We drove and looked at the beautiful mountains and river while sharing testimonies... pretty wonderful!
